Obituary for Mary J. Tuohy
Mary J. Tuohy, 96 of Brooklyn, New York passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2021, at NYU Medical Center-Brooklyn. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Brooklyn her entire life. She was the third child of three boys and three girls. On February 19, 1943, Mary married the love of her life, John, "Jack" l. Tuohy and were married for 74 years and had four children.
Mary was a devoted mother, active with her local church parishes, especially St Bernard, taking lead roles in The Rosary Society, choir, teaching religious instruction, and fundraising activities. She also managed a successful career with Macy's as a store manager.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ann Mineo, her husband Jack in 2019, and her siblings Gloria, Samuel and his wife Muriel, Anne and her husband Robert and John and his wife Betty.
She is survived by her brother Richard and his wife Theresa, her children John and his wife Lynn, Tom and his wife Susan, Kevin and his wife Mar and her daughter Carina. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren Erin and Marco Nieto, Kurt Tuohy, Kyle Tuohy and Adam Tuohy and her great-grandchildren Mario and Nicolo Nieto and Leah Tuohy.
