Obituary for Mary Grace Devlin
Mary "Grace" Devlin formerly of Brooklyn, New York passed into eternal life on May 29, 2022 at age 101. She was born on December 27,1920 in Brooklyn, New York, to Edward and Marie McCormick. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Guarini of St James, New York and was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rita Moore and brother, William McCormick.
Grace attended the former St. Brendan's Catholic School in Brooklyn. After school, Grace went on to own a beauty parlor in Brooklyn where she worked until she retired. She remained the landlord of the building until she was 99 years old.
Grace is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joseph Devlin. Joe and Grace were married at their beloved parish, Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where they remained lifelong parishioners. Grace cherished her Catholic faith and drew daily from the sacramental life of the Church as a daily communicant until she was nearly 100 years old. At her parish, Grace was on the parish council until she was physically unable in recent years. She also managed the parish booster club and organized senior trips to Atlantic City and Woodloch Pines.
Grace is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. She will be sorely missed by all her family and friends.
