John J. Ledwith passed away on July 4th, 2022, at age 84. John was born in Brooklyn on June 21st, 1938. He was a devoted Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend. John was blessed with a curious mind, caring heart and loving spirit. An auto and truck mechanic for over 70 years, John served in the Army and after running his own repair shop for decades he became a mechanic for the FDNY. John loved music, laughter and meeting new people. In later years he restored classic cars including his 1939 LaSalle and 1938 Cadillac. He loved participating. in local classic car clubs, parades, and auto shows. His cars were also featured in several films and television shows. John was a great mechanic and loved passing on his knowledge to friends and mentoring young mechanics. He is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Donohue) and his children Mary, Helen, Christopher, John, daughter-in-law Sun and grandchildren Haley and Owen. John was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth (nee Nolan) and Thomas and siblings Peter, Mary, Thomas, William and Anne. He is also survived by his brother James, many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Most of all John loved and was devoted to his family and they will miss him deeply.
