Obituary for Edward Deacy

Edward Patrick Deacy, 76, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 31, 2023 surrounded by family, love and music.

Born to Thomas and Rosalyn Deacy in Brooklyn on April 28, 1946, he was the loving brother of Thomas, Kathleen, Michael, John, William and Robert.

Ed graduated from St John's Prep. and St John's University and went on to serve as one of New York's finest as a Detective in the NYPD. Upon retirement, he patrolled the halls of Cardinal Hayes High School as the Assistant Dean of Discipline where the students lovingly referred to him as Dirty Harry. After that retirement, Ed loved splitting his time with his dear family and friends in Fort Myers, Florida, and Breezy Point, New York.

Through it all, Ed's countless gifts and love of the arts led him to the silver screen, stages near and far and big and small, and into the hearts of us all. From the womb to the groom to the tomb, his uniquely beautiful, God given voice hugged us all in times of joy and strife. He made unbearable moments bearable. And beautiful.

Forever Jane's date, he is survived by her and their three daughters, Danielle, Kelly and Erin. Forever Da to their eight grandchildren, Kai, Vaughn, Hailey, Gwen, Hunter, Roxy, Kayden and Drew will cherish every cheesy dad joke Da ever told. Ed valued the friendships of his sons-in-law, Bobby, Dan and Matt, who certainly all know that they have huge shoes to fill. Cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends- here and in Ireland- join in our grief. Ed's voice and impact will live on.

A viewing will be held from 3:00 to 8:00p.m. on Monday, April 3rd at The John J. McManus Funeral Home, 4601 Avenue N, Brooklyn, New York 11234. A funeral will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday April 4, at St. Thomas More Church, 204-25 Rockaway Point Blvd., Breezy Point, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eddie's memory to The Wounded Warriors Organization or Team Shamrock- Tunnels to Towers 5K Run and Walk NYC.
