Cyril Edward Howard, formerly of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Brooklyn, New York, died on Wednesday August 3, 2022 after a long illness. He was 85 years old, Cyril was born on February 20, 1937 to Edward and Edna Howard on the beautiful Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He is pre-deceased by sister Norma Thomas and brothers Vincent, Lester, Gordon,, George and Luther.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley, children: Montgomery "Nick" Howard, Dahlia-Ann Howard-Lewis, Lesley Howard- Bowman, Jeremiah Howard and Lionel Howard. Sons-in-law: Mahlon Lewis and Roland Bowman. Daughter-in-laws: Roxanne,and Alicia Howard, Grandsons-in-law : Justin John and Fitz Beckford. Grandchildren: Raedawne. Jerese, Vossia, Sade, Brittney, Zerran, Gabrielle, Somma, Saeed, Zeyanna, Juwan, Caleb, Luke and Zenniah. Great-Grandchildren: Grayson and Hunter, Brother: Randolph, Lionel and Harold Howard. Sisters-in law: Elna, Eleanor and Gloria, The Haynes, Victory, Thomas, Dopwell, Mattias and Howard Families of St. Vincent, Union Island and Trinidad and Tobago. Many nieces and nephews and several other relatives and friends.
Before migrating to The United States 43 years ago, he worked as a teacher a salesman and served as Manager of Coreas and Company Ltd. and The St. Vincent Marketing Corporation. Here in The United States he worked at First Boston Corporation, Time Warner and Chase Metrotech in the Canteen and Food Divison as a Steward and Production Manager. After retirement he worked part-time at The Hyam Saloman Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the Security department.
Cyril was known for his quick wit and loud ineffectious laughter. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards and long conversations with family and friends. He spent his last years battling kidney disease, winning many battles and defying the odds many times over. He was a man of great determination, immense strength of will and character.
We are grateful for the time we spent with him; For his love, knowledge and wise counsel. While we would desperately miss him, we are thankful he is now at rest and will cherish our memories of him forever. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and future generations. May His soul rest in eternal peace.
