Andre Carlie Pierre
Andre was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 4, 1964. He was the youngest of five of the union of Claudius and Felicia Pierre of Grenada, West Indies.
Andre lost his father Claudius in 2007, his mother Felicia in 2020 and his beloved sister, Ann Marie in 2019. Also his adored son Jelani.
He was educated at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic School. Here he thrived and had many friends. Andre attended Nazareth Regional High School and Bishop Ford. He was on the basketball team at both high schools.
Later he attended Brooklyn College. Ted Gustas was the assistant coach and his childhood friend Fly was the manager of the team. Along with his good friend Earl were stars of this winning team. Ted Gustas formed a basketball team The Ditmas All Stars. Andre and his friends Carl, Earl and Fly joined this team as children.
Ted Gustas was a trailblazer who taught The Ditmas all Stars basketball and life skills as the coach, thus Andre, Earl, Carl and Fly remained lifelong friends.
Andre was a gifted speaker and had strong communication skills. He was a program manager at Goodwill Industries. He also worked as a youth counselor at a residential program in Brooklyn. He also worked at The Good Shepherd on The Long Island Campus. Here disabled young adults received life and academic skills.
Andre had a strong bond and loving relationship with his brothers-in-law Ray Dickerson and Rudy Derrick.
As we celebrate the life of Andre, we will remember him for his keen intelligence, athletic ability and strong communication skills. Andre enjoyed life. He was very popular and positive.
Andre came to faith at The Palm Garden Rehab Center. Here he was generous with his time, talents and possessions. He also donated many things to needy residents. Andre was very poplar with the staff and residents .His friend Noel visited him often, hence, Palm Gardens was a place of restoration, rehab and redemption. He repented and confessed salvation by faith in Jesus Christ.
Andre is survived by his sisters: Valerie, Hazel, Ann and Susan, brother Peron, bothers-in law: Ray and Rudy; sister-in-law Gladys; nephews: Mosi, Pili, Kareem, Ajani, Tyrone and Jordan, nieces: Jamilla and Nia. Grandnephews: Ade, Maison, Kymani and Kamron. Grandniece Kadence. Beloved godson Curtis and friend Vilicia and a host of friends and relatives.
